NA3HL Knights’ Hockey Begins September 22nd
The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) has released the official 2019-2020 schedule for all 36 teams. For the first time in the organization’s history, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights will roster a tier III junior hockey team to compete in the NA3HL. This comes after two seasons in the Eastern Hockey League, including the 2018-19 season where the Knights finished with a championship appearance in the Frozen Finals.
As new members of the league, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton will join the Northeast Division, comprised of four other teams, including the Danbury Colonials, Elmira Jr. Soaring Eagles, Long Beach Sharks, and Skyland Kings. Overall, the NA3HL has 36 teams in six divisions across 17 states.
All teams will play a 47 game schedule during the regular season, which runs from September to March 8th, 2020. The Knights will get a late jump, as the team doesn’t begin play until September 22nd while several clubs will begin two weeks earlier. The Knights will begin their NA3HL tenure at home inside Revolution Ice Centre, where they will host the Danbury Colonials on Sunday, September 22nd at 2:30pm. All games will be broadcast live on the NA3HL’s official online broadcast partner, HockeyTV.
While the NAHL Knights will hit the road for the bulk of their second half, the tier III club will host a plethora of games during the 2020 portion of the season. Led by new Head Coach Mike Narrigan, the Knights will host a season-long nine game homestand that runs from January 17-February 14.
During the course of the campaign, the Knights will participate in several marquee events held by the league, including a newly created East Showcase, taking place October 6-8 at New England Sports Village in Attleboro, MA. The NA3HL will host a Showcase event in Blaine, MN come December; the same facility for which the NAHL operates its’ Showcase out of, as well as the Robertson Cup Finals, and will once again return to Massachusetts for the NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament.
The season will conclude with playoffs and ultimately the Fraser Cup Championship, being held March 25-29 in Chicago, IL.
About the NA3HL
Entering its 10th season in 2019-20, the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL), one of two USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier III Junior leagues, serves as one of the top training grounds in the country by providing the best coaching, exposure and developmental vehicles available for student-athletes in its classification. The primary mission of the NA3HL, which is managed organizationally by the NAHL, is to provide a structured developmental environment for student-athletes whose youth options are limited but are still reaching their potential and have aspirations of playing in the NAHL or United States Hockey League (USHL) and eventually the NCAA or American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA).
