Knights Trade for Anthony Firriolo

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights continued their busy week along the transaction wire, as the team added another member to the blue line. Anthony Firriolo has been acquired via trade from the Amarillo Bulls.

Firriolo, a native of Towaco, NJ, started his junior hockey career in 2016-17 in the OJHL where here recorded 4-19-23 in 55 games played. In 11 games this season with Amarillo, he picked up one assist, which came in his debut for the Bulls. His next game came against the Knights on day one of the NAHL Showcase. It turns out Firriolo had long been on the Knights radar.

“Anthony’s a player our staff saw a lot of in the past,” said Knights head coach Tom Kowal. “He ended up going to Amarillo, but he’s someone we are familiar with. He’s going to bring some offensive ability to our blue-line that may translate to power play time.”

The ’98 birth year brings another left-handed shot to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton blue line. His talent has earned him a commitment to Colorado College, a member of NCAA Division I’s NCHC conference.

“At the end of the day, he’s a player that’s committed to a college, he has experience in our league, he’s a Jersey-boy from two hours down the road, and our staff has seen him play and has been very impressed with him,” said Kowal. “He’s not the biggest guy, but he’ll be one of the best skaters on our team. We’re looking to him to add some speed and offense to our blue line. We’re happy that Anthony’s going to be wearing a Knights sweater,”

Bronte Returns to Knights:

After playing in the USHL, Tyrone Bronte will be back with the Knights this weekend.

“Tyrone being here is definitely a boost to our team,” said Kowal. “Not only has he been a point-per-game player for us,  but beyond the scoresheet he works hard, he plays smart, and he brings the right attitude to the rink.”

The Australian’s impact has been missed, as without the savvy forward, the Knights are 1-2-2. With Bronte, they are 5-1-0.

Over the course of  the last week, the Knights have added three new players to the defensive corps and have seen a key forward return to their roster. The full cast will be assembled this weekend as they prepare for three games of East division hockey against the Tomahawks and Titans. Stay tuned to Knights social media and for all news and updates!
