It was another hard fought weekend for the Knights against a very hard working Hartford Junior Wolfpack team. The two Central Division rivals split the weekend with the Knights losing the first game, then winning the second contest.
The Knights and Wolfpack skated to a 2-2 tie at the end of the first period of the first game. The Wolfpack’s Nick Belger scored the first goal of the game, however defenseman Jeremy Briscoe scored his first goal of the season to tie up the score. Belger scored again after Briscoe’s goal, but defenseman Austin Arnold was able to tie the score at two goals apiece. The two teams traded goals in the second with the Wolfpack taking the lead first. Knights’ forward Zach Remers buried a pass from Dan Perez to end the second period 3-3. The Hartford Wolfpack went on to score three unanswered goals in the third period to win the game 6-3. Goaltender Kenny Graham made 29 saves on 35 shots.
The Knights looked to avenge the loss against the Wolfpack in the second game of the weekend. They started by scoring three straight goals to begin the game. Geno DeAngelo, Zach Remers, and Dan Perez scored the initial three goals for the Knights. The Wolfpack’s Schauss scored their first goal, but Perez answered to end the first period by a score of 4-1. The Knights fell flat in the second period and gave up two goals to their opponents. Remers scored his second goal of the game with the assists going to Perez and David MacGregor. The Wolfpack added a late goal in the third period, but the Knights ended up on top by a score of 5-4. Goaltender Tyler Huberty saved 41 of 45 shots.
The Knights final regular season game against the Northern Cyclones will be held on Friday, February 20 at 1:30pm at the Revolution Ice Centre. This will be the final tune-up before they embark on post-season play.
