Daniel Sprong Spotlight

The 18-year-old Sprong had 39 goals and 49 assists for Charlottetown of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in 2014-15. Sprong added seven goals and four assists in the playoffs as Charlottetown won a post-season series for the first time since 2004. Sprong is also a product of the highly touted Wilkes Barre Scranton Knights youth hockey program based in Pennsylvania.

Sprong is from Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and was one of the fastest skaters in the junior ranks. The 6-foot, 180-pound Sprong is the first pick by the Penguins in this year's draft. Pittsburgh shipped its first-round pick to Edmonton in January for forward David Perron.
