The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights have confirmed a trade with the Corpus Christi IceRays, sending goaltender Samuel Vyletelka to the Texas organization.
Vyletelka, 18, appeared in 14 games for the Knights this season. The Slovakian rookie was selected in the fourth round of the NAHL Entry Draft this past summer. Along with Knights keeper Zach Stejskal, the two combined for a .921 save percentage across 39 games.
Samuel’s highlight performance with the grey and blue came back in November when he made 44 saves against the Johnstown Tomahawks; a team that was in the midst of a 17 game winning streak.
Corpus Christi receives a goaltender listed on the NHL’s Central Scouting List both in October, as well as most recently at the midterm rankings. Vyletelka ranked 29th among all North American goalies. He will join an IceRays team currently occupying a playoff spot in the NAHL’s South Division.
On behalf of the entire Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights organization, we would like to thank Samuel for his contributions to this hockey club, and we wish him all the best as he begins the next chapter of his playing career with the IceRays.
