Knights defeat the Rebels, 4-1

PITTSON, Penn. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights defeated the Jamestown Rebels, 4-1, in their matchup on Saturday, January 4, at Revolution Ice Centre.

The Knights record in regular season play is now 15-14-2-1 (W-L-OTL-SOL).

The Knights’ first game of 2020 began with a scoreless first period.

However, the Knights went on to take a two-goal lead in the second period.

Jordan Strand struck first with 6:29 left in the second period, with assists from Johnny Kaljian and Tyrone Bronte.

With just 45 seconds left in the period, Artur Turansky extended the Knights’ lead to 2-0 off of assists from Cam Cervone and Strand.

The Rebels responded at 2:18 of the third period with their first goal of the game, but it wouldn’t be long before the Knights took over the scoreboard once again.

Egor Postnov scored his third goal of the season on a power play at 7:50 of the third period, with an assist from Nikita Asylaev.

Turansky netted his second of the game, and the Knights fourth goal against the Rebels, with 10:16 left in the third period. Christopher Rubenach and Postnov tallied assists on the goal.

Ultimately, the Rebels were unable to recover from the Knights’ three-goal lead and fell, 4-1.

Zach Stejskal played a full game in net.

The Knights return to action tomorrow, Jan. 5, for a rematch with the Jamestown Rebels.

Knights top the Rebels, 4-3

PITTSON, Penn. – The Wilkes/Barre-Scranton Knights topped the the Jamestown Rebels, 4-3, in their matchup on Friday, December 13 at Revolution Ice Centre.

The Knight’s regular season record is now 13-12-2-1 (W-L-OTL-SOL).

The Knights took an early lead against the Rebels, as Anthony Mastromonica netted his first of the game at just 3:29 of the opening period.

However, the Rebels responded with two quick goals to take a 2-1 lead; the first was scored at 5:48 and the second at 7:37.

With 2:01 left in the first period, the Knights tied up the game at two goals apiece as Artur Turansky tallied his fifth goal of the season, with assists from Zak Currie and Liam Haslam.

The Knights played a dominant second period and went on to take a two-goal lead after two periods of play.

Mastromonica scored his second goal of the game at 6:27, assisted by Sutton McDonald and Cam Cervone.

To wrap up the second period, Lincoln Hatten scored with 8:47 to go in the middle frame, giving the Knights their biggest lead of the game. Tyrone Bronte and Jordan Strand were credited with assists.

The score remained 4-2 in the Knights favor until a Rebels goal with 2:27 left in the third period cut the lead to 4-3.

Ultimately, the Knights fought off the Rebels for the final minutes of regulation and took the game, 4-3.

Zach Stejskal played a full game in net in the Knights victory.

The Knights return to action tomorrow, December 14, for a 4pm matchup against the Jamestown Rebels at Revolution Ice Centre.
