Knights Acquire Shay Donovan

The Knights continued adding to the blue line this week with the signing of defenseman Shay Donovan. The Duluth, Minnesota native is no stranger to the NAHL. He broke in as a 7th round pick with the Coulee Region Chill last season, playing 50 games and picking up three goals and 13 assists in the process.

A right-handed shot, the ’98 defenseman played four games with the Minnesota Wilderness-one against the Knights in Blaine-this year before coming over to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. With a big frame at 6-2 185, Donovan adds a fair amount of physicality to the defensive corps, but is far from one-dimensional.

“Shay is an experienced player with a year of NAHL competition under his belt,” said Knights assistant GM Justin Schreiber. “He brings size to the lineup and he’s good at keeping things simple. He’ll win puck battles, and can really get the puck up ice fast. He’s a quality add to our group on the back end.”

Donovan comes aboard as the Knights prepare for another three-game weekend. The team will host a pair against Johnstown at home Friday and Saturday before a brief road trip to New Jersey on Sunday. Catch Donovan and the Knights on and follow Knights social media for all news and updates!
