There is no doubt about the skill level among the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Junior A and B teams. This is evident in the fact that the junior programs are sending 5 members of the teams to the annual AJHL/MJHL All Star game.
The Junior A Knights are sending forward Jack Ceglarski, defenseman Erik Lyrvall, and defenseman Brian Hurlimann. Hurlimann has been selected as an alternate.
Jack Ceglarski, a native of Byfield, MA, has been providing the Knights with a steady offensive season. He is a player who creates space for his teammates with his creative passing abilities.
Erik Lyrvall is a towering presence on the back end who has come to the Knights from Falun, Sweden. Not only does Lyrvall have size but his heavy shot from the point almost always has a chance of getting through to the net or getting tipped for a great scoring chance. Lyrvall is counted on to play in every situation of the game – whether it is even strength, power play, or short-handed.
Brian Hurlimann is a defenseman that left his home in Hilton, NY to play for the Knights. He is a young player who has provided steady play at both ends of the ice.
The Junior B Knights have the honor of sending forward Yari Kobyzyev. The team captain, Max Antonides, has also been selected to go to the All Star game as an alternate.
Kobyzyev is one of the youngest members of the team who started the year on defense but moved up to the forward position. The Ukrainian born Kobyzyev leads the team in points and works hard at the Knights’ own end of the ice. He also leads all players in points who were voted to play in the MJHL Prospects All Star game.
Max Antonides, who hails from Wallingford, CT, is a second year player on the Junior B Knights. He has provided the team with impeccable leadership both on and off the ice. Antonides also has a knack for getting pucks through to the net creating goals and rebound opportunities.
