- The Knights AJHL team has come out of the gates flying, opening the season with an impressive three game winning streak. “This is the start we were looking to have,” stated Head Coach, Justin Lyle. “We have been working hard since August and the time and dedication is starting to pay off.”
The Knights began the season with a sweep over the Washington Jr. Nationals. They edged out the Nats 2-0 on Saturday, but opened the flood gates on Sunday with a 6-0 victory. Rob Liberatore recorded the shutout on Saturday stopping all 28 shots, while Mike DeLaVergne was just as solid on Sunday, making 24 saves in the back to back shutouts.
Cam Miller kicked off the season with the first Knights goal at the 10:02 mark of the 3rd period to help propel the Knights to thier first win of the season. It was Jack Ceglarski who came up big on Sunday, netting two goals only three minutes apart, helping to put the game out of reach for the Nats. The Knights went 4 for 6 on the power play to completetheir home opening weekend with a perfect 2-0 record.
The Knights continued to soar on the power play last Saturday night, in their first road game of the season in Philadelphia.
