Arnold Commits to St. Mary’s University

The Knights are proud to announce Austin Arnold has committed to be a student-athlete at St. Mary’s University of Minnesota.

Austin Arnold is a defenseman who has patrolled the blue line for the Knights for two seasons. During the 2013-2014 campaign, Arnold scored a goal and assisted 3 times for 4 points with 40 penalty minutes. In the 2014-2015 season, he had 2 goals and 12 assists while sitting in the box for 20 penalty minutes. The durable and tough Alaska native has played in all 88 regular season games during his time with the Knights.

Head Coach/GM Justin Lyle had only praise for the veteran defenseman. “St. Mary’s is getting a consistent defenseman who is good in all areas of the game. Above all else, they are getting a great person in Austin. I have been lucky to have dealt with him for two seasons and wish him and his family nothing but luck in the future.”

St. Mary’s University of Minnesota is a private university located in Winona, Minnesota. The Cardinals Men’s Ice Hockey program is an NCAA Division III team playing out of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Cardinals are currently second in the MIAC with a conference record of 9-5-2 and an overall record of 14-9-2.

“I want to thank all my past coaches and the Knights coaching staff. I also want to thank my family who has supported me my whole life in hockey to get to this point,” said Austin Arnold. “I think St. Mary’s is perfect for me because it’s a smaller school and it allows me to be closer to my home state.” Arnold will be a student-athlete of St. Mary’s Business program.
